Disseminated data files products at Mercator Ocean
Mercator Ocean disseminates standard grids data file products, netCDF format, COARDS/CF 1.0 convention. These products are reinterpolation on standard grids from native model grids. Grids are cut into several areas. Each area is reinterpolated on a given resolution grid. This resolution is selected considering both the ocean physics relevant representation (as a function of the area size) and dissemination and storage cost.
Products derived from operational systems, weekly updated with the last ocean analysis and forecast
- PSY2V3: North and Tropical Atlantic (70°N-20°S) and Mediterranean, computational grid: 1/12°
- PSY3V2: Global ocean, computational grid: 1/4°
Acces to products
All the digital data files describing the 3D ocean parameters, analysis, forecast and hindcast require an authorized access.
To access to them, please read first our terms and conditions of use.
An access form must then be filled in. Please, download it ( PDF format, Word format , RTF format), fill it and send it back by e-mail to: ..
Mercator Ocean provides access to its data via two servers:
- A Thredds/Opendap server for real time data less than 1 year old
- An Archive server for historical archived data
Thredds/Opendap server
From this server several ways are available for downloading the data:
With the extraction tool
Download the data by a few clicks and select your geographical area, temporal period, depth interval, and ocean variables you are interested in.
With the Live Access Server (LAS)
Visualize and download the data (Ascii, netCDF, csv, etc.).
- LAS user's guide (PDF, 3,6 Mo)
- Access to the LAS
Directly from the Opendap catalog
Download the data using client software such as Ferret, Matlab or NCO. You must have your client software installed.
Archived data server
The Maps server delivers:
- Standard grids products
- Native format products produced by model runs. These products are strictly intended for scientists who are part of the GMMC (Mercator-Coriolis mission group).
The user defines how the product is to be delivered:
- On CD-Rom, DAT, Exabyte or DLT
- Direct downloading from the server via Internet
- Server storage which requires having a user account and login
