The 13th European Space Conference

The 13th European Space Conference – Space Embracing a Changing World: Green, Digital, Resilience & Security – will take place on the 12-13th January 2021. As it has been for the past three years, Mercator Ocean International is among the partners of the conference and Pierre Bahurel (CEO), Pierre-Yves Le Traon (Scientific Director), and Cécile Thomas-Courcoux (International Development Director) will present during three focus sessions.

The Conference

13th European Space ConferenceThe Conference is an initiative under the high Patronage of the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Kingdom of Belgium – Minister of foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and development cooperation, and the Portugal Presidency of the European Union. Minister Heitor, the Portuguese Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education will participate in the event as a representative of the Portugal Presidency of the EU, which put the preservation and sustainable use of the resources of oceans and seas among its priorities.

For safety reasons, this upcoming edition will have a hybrid format: the physical presence will be necessarily limited to the speakers, while the online interactivity, and the new opportunities that come with it, will be limitless for every participant.

The high-level debates taking place in the next two days between the key players of the European space domain will focus on most important issues, such as

Note that Pierre Bahurel will be presenting on Tuesday 12th @ 11:15 focus session – Studio A: Space supporting the digital transition: from Quantum to AI.

Cécile Thomas-Courcoux will be presenting on Tuesday 12th @ 17:15 focus session – Studio B: African and European space business at the service of the great societal challenges.

Pierre-Yves Le Traon will be presenting on Wednesday 13th @ 11:15 focus session – Studio B: Copernicus: Europe’s sentinel in times of change and progress.
