Mercator Ocean, in the frame of the Coperniucs Marine Service, has organized with GEO Blue Planet and the Université Fédérale Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, the 4th GEO Blue Planet Symposium from July 4th-6th, 2018. It will be held in Toulouse, France, home to Mercator Ocean.

The symposium takes place in the backdrop of the 8th edition of ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum), the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe dedicated to scientific research, offering a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people and the general public.

The 4th GEO Blue Planet Symposium will serve as a forum for discussion of ocean and coastal information needs for sustainable development, Blue Growth and societal awareness. The symposium will bring together producers of ocean and coastal information and current and potential users of ocean and coastal information, who will share their experience with the audience.

We live on a Blue Planet, and Earth’s waters benefit many sectors of society. The future of our Blue Planet is increasingly reliant on the services delivered by marine and coastal waters. Maintenance of these services relies on the advancement of effective, evidence-based decisions for sustainable development.
