GREEN MATRIX UPLOADED: A NEW ECOSYSTEM VARIABLE FOR MARINE RESOURCES SECTOR

Abstract: The objective of the present project is to extent the CMEMS products catalogue by developing a new product covering a key ecosystem component at the mid-trophic level, i.e. the micronekton, to better address the Marine Resources area of benefit. Indeed, providing both real time and hindcast simulation of micronekton distributions produced from CMEMS physical (temperature, currents) and biogeochemical (primary production, euphotic depth) existing products would assist in the development of new management tools by various research and fisheries organisations and would pave the way for new approaches to the management and monitoring of marine resources.
The work will consist firstly in developing and set up the micronekton model for the north Atlantic ocean, to produce demonstration products that will then be used within two Use Cases.
